The 28th edition of the Olympics held in Brazil has put the country in a financial crisis. For hosting an Olympic event is never easy - the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has to be assured by the host nation that the stadiums and other facilities being provided are up to the Olympic standards. However, once the games are over, most of these stadiums turn out to be surplus to requirements and are left to rot. Instead of them being maintained and used by the common public, they end up being a massive waste of space and public money. Here are some pictures of Olympic stadiums and villages from around the world that have just been left to rot after the games. Really unfortunate.
