Are you freaking out about your first date? Well, you're not the only one as all of us have, at one point or another, gone through that rush of
excitement and nervousness at the same time. While first dates are the ones that have lot of surprises in store for you, they can also go horribly wrong if you're too stressed about them.

First impressions matter and you have to make sure that you leave a positive first impression on your date after you meet him or her.

So to make sure you go on your date confidently and not end up messing things up, here are 7 tips that would help you distress yourself.

1. Talk to him/her on the phone beforehand.

Most of the time, we tend to communicate with our dates either over text messages or online, and this gives us a very vague idea about our date. There are very limited things that we know about them and our minds can't help but wander in every different direction possible. So, in order to calm yourself down, you need to communicate with them over the phone and make sure you at least have some clue about who they are.

2. Take some time relaxing yourself.

Try to keep yourself calm by not thinking about your date. Either watch a movie, or go for a walk to calm those nerves. The more you'll think about your date, the more your imagination will run wild.

3. Practice makes you perfect.

Either ask your friends to act like your date, or stand in front of a mirror and practice yourself. Notice your body language and your expressions to make sure you aren't doing something that will turn her or him off. Additionally, doing so will also help you gain some confidence.

4. Make sure you don't underestimate or devalue yourself.

People often underestimate their value and deprive themselves of the love they deserve. By thinking that your date is potentially out of your league, you somehow manage to convince yourself that your date deserves better and you end up stressing out even more. Do not make this mistake. You need to keep your confidence high and believe in yourself.

5. A little stalking is not that bad.

Stalking can be both fun and informative, if done in a limited manner. You can know about your date's hobbies, friends and can have some idea about their personality by going through their profiles on social media. But make sure you don't utter any piece of stalked information in front of them while you're on the date, otherwise you're guaranteed to creep them out.

6. Review your own qualities.

You can either make your friends tell you your qualities or try giving yourself a little pep talk. All of us have pros and cons, right? So do yourself a favour and focus only on your pros for now.

7. Finally, dress up well.

The two motives of dressing up well are simple. First, it helps you impress your date. And second, it helps you feel good about yourself. No matter how nervous you are, looking good can make it all go away.
