Be Kind To Yourself And It Will Do Wonders For Your Health
We are generally told to be compassionate towards others, to be nice to your friends and family, to be kind to elders. But we are never told to be nice to ourselves. We are generally our best critics but that can be quite taxing on our everyday lives. It is very important to learn the art self compassion. Not only it is good for your mental health but according to the scientists it can have positive effects on the physical health as well.
1. Self-compassion makes you tougher.
During the tough phases of life it is important to be kind to yourself and remember that you cannot have everything in life and you can't make everyone happy either. It is easier to get out of failure if you are compassionate to yourself.
2. Improves your relationships in general.
When you love yourself and are not dependent on outside sources or people to make you feel loved, that is when you become a more understanding person in general. It can help you to relate and bond with others better.
3. It helps you to be more relaxed in life.
It is not good to be self-critical, so if you are a perfectionist sort of a person it teaches you to be a little gentle on yourself. According to the research, people who tend to judge themselves a lot and want everything to perfect have been reported with low self-compassion. Not loving oneself can take a toll on your emotional health.
4. Helps people who have been body shamed.
Researches say that self compassion can help people who may be at risk of body-based health issues. Specially women with low self esteem or have negative body image, self-love can actually help them to come out of depression and be less harsh and critical about themselves.
5. Teaches you not to judge yourself.
Self-compassion doesn't determine self-confidence or how you feel about yourself. It rather teaches you to relate to yourself and not to judge yourself as too good or bad.
6. Makes you a happier person.
When you love yourself you tend to respect and love everything about yourself. Self-compassionate people generally love to read, pamper themselves and do things that makes them feel happy about themselves.
7. It helps you become your own friend.
Self loving people are quite tough and selfish in a positive way. They generally don't seek outside help to come out of a difficult situation and are quite self reliant emotionally. They are their best friend!
8. Self-compassion makes you a content person.
Research shows that self-compassion can make you a calm person from within — and who wouldn't want to live life with a calmer inner self?
So go ahead and be a little kind on yourself because you totally deserve it!
