Re: [bitsremembers] Message from Ram

Deepak you are right. To add to your phrases, early to bed , early to raise makes the man healthy and wise. I was trying on you if you have such practice. Best wishes. Ram

What a coincidence - we were just at Sarvannah and enjoyed the experience as the attached picture shows

Keep up your exemplary Routine and as they say routine, alertness and promptness keeps one in the Satvik gunna.   Looked like you have achieved the goal

Dear Deepak Goel. I called you not for this. It was seeing your message that you are in India ack to BC with whom I was talking previous evg on BITS meet. As you were sleeping in deep winter in Delhi( which I learnt later ), I decided to cut it. I normally get up at 6 am and go far a brisk walk for 3 kms min before having a nice coffee at Hotel Saravanan a famous joint who has branches about 7 of them in USA also. Deepak Manchanda and me had coffee at same place at Chennai just few days before this flood . Keshav did fly from Delhi with his wife to Chennai on 1 st Dec to reach Chennai airport to touch the 50 ft above the runaway and pilot decides to take off to Bangalore after realising that visibility was poor. In fact with all preparations on 1 st Dec to safeguard yourself, I made the last land line call to Keshav to avoid travel to Chennai and if possible not to fly. He realised the intensity of rain only when his flight diverted to Bangalore after all most landing. All these requires concern for friends . ram

The attached photo shows how we narrowly escaped from flood as the Metro rail had constructed a strong wall between the 2 half of 100 ft road under the Metro rail ( New wall done few months back ) . the flood hit the western side of this wall ( just 50 from my flat ) . Otherwise, we would have been submerged, as the real water started swelling around midnight and my presence of mind was to move to first floor flat late evg of the 1 st Dec . we safely moved all empty boxes first to a height of 6 ft and filled it us with all imp documents , certificates including accreditation of the whole family and  registered documents of property etc. This helped us though finally our colony was safe with only 2 ft of water at peak rain and just saved from from entering as I constructed the safe brick wall with just Burla white cement in bathrooms, toilet , and varandah over evg to make sure that no damage to my office office cum flat. No doubt our locker at HDFC had flood water in it and Bank was concerned if we had kept any documents. My answer was that I believe myself than anyone else if it comes to safety. I have 100 year old documents and photos protected for 75 years which my uncle and grandma gave it to me to handle. Every thing is safe. Regards, Ram
